Ard na Mara – Gaelic for ‘high above the sea’ – is a delightful two-bedroom apartment enjoying spectacular views over the working fishing harbour just below.
Located at the top of Water Wynd and just off the High Street, it is perfectly positioned for leisurely coastal walks, picking up fresh bread at the bakers or popping into the nearby coffee shops for breakfast.
With a double bedroom and twin bedroom, up to four guests can be accommodated in this bright and homely first floor apartment.
Entering on ground level, a set of stairs opens onto the central hallway from which all rooms lead off. A feature glass brick panel streams light into the space and the first of many attractive pieces of artwork adorning the walls can be seen. To the front of the property is the spacious lounge with dual aspect window, making the most of the incredible views. From the large picture window facing the sea you can gaze out to the Isle of May, Bass Rock and watch the boats come in and out of the harbour. You might even spot a pod of passing dolphins! There is log fire effect electric stove, TV and plenty of comfortable seating. The elevated seating area by the window will undoubtedly be a favourite spot to take morning coffee or an evening glass of wine as you watch the waves roll in.
The well-equipped dining kitchen has plenty of storage space and a table for four guests, allowing you to enjoy meals in as well as sampling local fare. The bedrooms are to the rear and look over crow stepped gables to the quiet lane below. Both rooms are light and decorated in neutral tones for a calm and relaxing retreat. The bathroom benefits from both a walk-in shower enclosure as well as a freestanding bath, ideal for a long soak after a busy day exploring the East Neuk.
Ard na Mara is well suited to a small family or even friends seeking a comfortable and welcoming stay by the sea. A well-behaved dog is also welcome on request for a small fee.
An off-street parking space is shared with the neighbour on a first come first served basis with a loading/unloading area available as well as on street parking.
Pittenweem is one of the popular East Neuk villages where there is something to appeal to all types of guests. Whether you’re seeking an adventurous holiday with watersports; craving a wellbeing break with long coastal walks, wild swimming and seaside saunas; a golfer wanting to try out some of the world famous courses on the doorstep; a foodie ready to be delighted by the vast selection of local produce and highly rated pubs, bistros and restaurants or simply a family wanting to relive your childhood of holidays by the sea, guddling in rockpools and eating fish and chips then you’ll find what you’re after in this idyllic location.
