Buttercup House is a welcoming coastal home offering comfortable accommodation for up to six guests.
Located just steps from Fife Coastal path and the shoreline of Cellardyke, it’s perfectly placed to be the ideal family stay by the sea. Laid out over three levels, there is plenty room for everyone to have their own space or gather together.
Entering on the ground floor there is a well-equipped kitchen offering everything you would expect for a self-catering stay. There is a breakfasting area and a separate useful utility space. Across the hallway is the dining room with table and chairs for six, perfect for enjoying a locally sourced feast or takeaway fish and chips! This room also offers an additional sitting room with comfy armchairs and a huge selection of books to peruse.
The curving staircase leads to the first floor, with the family bathroom at mid-level. This luxurious room has a claw footed free-standing bath as well as separate shower cubicle. The double bedroom is on the first floor and is a light and airy room with some rooftop views towards the sea. Next door is the impressive lounge with decorative fireplace, stripped wooden floors and high ceilings all adding traditional character. There is ample comfortable seating, ready for you to relax into and recount tales of your East Neuk adventures.
A staircase leads to the attic level which offers to partially separated spaces, each with twin beds. From the windows, you can gaze across the sea to the Isle of May and over the harbour to Anstruther golf course.
Buttercup House has on street parking and has a well-maintained patio to the front with colourful planting and seating- enjoy morning coffee accompanied by the sound of the waves.
One well behaved dog is welcome by prior arrangement and for a small fee.
Cellardyke is a small fishing village with historic harbour and open water tidal pool. It is a few minutes’ walk from the shorefront of Anstruther, which has a selection of cafes, bistros, pubs and restaurants as well as bakers, butcher and other independent shops. From here you can take boat trips to the Isle of May, hire canoes and paddle boards at the outdoor centre or even enjoy a seaside sauna.
There are several world-famous golf courses within several miles, including St Andrews Old Course. The East Neuk is renowned for its beauty and the coastal path joins all the neighbouring villages for those who want to take a scenic walk.
There’s a thriving arts and music scene with regular festivals and events, as well as an array of local producers and makers where you can pick up local delicacies and treats direct from the source or at farmers’ markets. The East Neuk is the perfect place to make new memories from favourite past times too- hours spent on sandy beaches, ice cream and fish and chips is an idyllic way to spend a day.
Please note that due to the steep nature of the upper stairs, this area is not suitable for those with mobility issues or very young children. For your comfort the occupancy of six guests should not exceed a maximum of four adults.
