St Anne’s is a traditional stone-built home in the heart of the quaint fishing village of Crail.
A substantial and attractive property, this listed building offers plenty of space for a group of up to eight people (max. six adults) across its four bedrooms, characterful living spaces and impressive garden.
Set just behind the historic Toll Booth, St Anne’s is well placed for the local butcher, bakers and selection of cafes as well as just being a few minutes’ walk from the idyllic harbour where you can purchase freshly caught lobster and crab from the harbour shack.
Entering this imposing property at ground level, there is a generous hallway which leads to the living spaces as well as access to the large south facing garden. The dining kitchen has a farmhouse feel with exposed stone walls and wooden beams. It is a well equipped kitchen with large dining table looking out to the garden with a separate access directly onto the patio. The dual aspect sitting room has an open fireplace – perfect for gathering around on cooler evenings- as well as a door to the patio which you can have open on warm summer days.
Through a door cleverly disguised as a bookcase, a few steps lead down to the bunk room which is the ideal space for kids to hang out with a TV, beanbag seating and separate WC. A family bathroom with handheld shower attachment completed the ground floor and a sweeping staircase with high ceilings takes you to the first floor. Here. there are three good sized bedrooms. The main bedroom has a superking bed and enjoys views out to the garden as well as windows to the front which makes it lovely and bright. There are two twin bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite shower room.
The garden at St Anne’s is undoubtedly one of its key features. It has a patio area (accessed directly from several rooms) with quality outdoor furniture and a barbecue. Well tended flower beds surround the large lawn and a path draws you down to the wildflower area with orchard, some vegetable and fruit growing. The enclosed and sheltered south facing garden provides a colourful and vibrant haven where you can truly escape and relax. Parking is available on street, and there are several electric car charging points at the parking areas adjacent.
Crail is one of the charming fishing villages that make up the East Neuk, popular with guests who enjoy the outdoors, spectacular scenery and a quiet pace of life. There is a vibrant arts and music scene with many festivals and events throughout the year as well as a fantastic local larder with countless food and drink producers and an array of dining experiences from cosy cafes with sea views and award winning fish and chip shops to Michelin star restaurants.
Only around 8 miles to St Andrews and an hour drive to Edinburgh, it is a great base for exploring other areas of Scotland and of course close to many famous golf courses including The Old Course as well as Crail and Anstruther Golf Clubs.
